Christus Canton ECC is now an official DEA secure drop off location for unwanted/unused medications. The location will be searchable on the DEA website, and the box is available to the public for use. Nurses may also utilize the box for secure disposal of patient medications that are no longer needed - for example, if a patient is deceased. The box is physically located in the ECC waiting room, between the ECC and the clinic - it is locked and secured to the floor. Pharmacy will be responsible to maintain the box in conjunction with security. This is a great service that offers the community and to promote medication safety.
