Canton Fire Auxiliary We are a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting our firefighters and community through on-scene emergency support, equipment funding, and community events.

Supporting our firefighters, first responders, and community—together. The Canton Fire Auxiliary exists to give aid and assistance to the Canton Fire Protection District by supporting fire personnel, their families, and the Canton community. It is the Auxiliary’s duty to host multiple fundraisers in order to provide the support needed. The Canton Fire Auxiliary will provide aid to all firefighters in times of emergency.

We would like to take a moment to thank all of those who assisted the Canton Fire Department with the fire tonight.

Thank you to the LaGrange, Monticello, Western Lewis and R-4 fire departments that provided additional mutual aid, Lewis County Ambulance District, Lewis County Sheriffs Department, and Missouri State Highway Patrol for helping our firefighters stay safe. We would also like to thank Primos for helping feed our first responders.

We are also grateful to everyone who assisted behind the scenes, provided support, and helped in any way.

Thank you for all you do to keep our community safe.

This week, the Canton Fire Auxiliary would like to recognize and thank the brave men and women in law enforcement who serve our community every day.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to those at the Canton, Missouri Police Department, Lewis County Sheriffs Office, Missouri Highway Patrol and LaGrange Police Department for always being there to lend a helping hand.

Your courage, dedication, and commitment to keeping our community safe do not go unnoticed. Whether it’s responding to emergencies, supporting our department on calls, or being there when it matters most—we are grateful for all that you do.

Firefighters don't run away, instead they run toward the fire, and many other dangerous situations, willingly putting themselves in harm’s way, their lives out on the thin red line for others every single day.

For National Volunteer Week we will be honoring and shouting a great big THANK YOU to those who support and help our community!

Join us in celebrating and honoring those who volunteer!

Today we are honoring Monticello Captain Timmy Shires.

We asked each of our volunteers some questions.

How long have you been a volunteer?

I have been on for about 30 years.

What inspired you to become a volunteer?

Way back when, my good friend Doug Green inspired me to join.

What is something you have enjoyed about being a volunteer?

I have enjoyed supporting the community and fellow firefighters.

What advice would you give to someone on the fence about becoming a volunteer?

It takes a lot of dedication but is very rewarding.
