Newton Hills State Park Newton Hills is one of South Dakota's premier state parks with dramatic views, excellent hiking, and The park hosts many activities during the summer season.

Newton Hills is a South Dakota state park with 128 campsites - includes 10 horse camp sites, 8 cabins (each sleeps 4 people), and one lodge. Each program is geared for families with young children and will expose participants to the natural and cultural features of the park. Programs are held every Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Educational and entertaining films are presented Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:30 p.m. The park hosts a non-denominational church service Sunday at 9 a.m. Other great features of Newton Hills include miles of horse, biking, and walking trails, picnicking areas, seasonal hunting, and the nearby Lake Lakota.

Congratulations to Jacki, our Week 14 Adventure 250 winner!

Jacki completed her Adventure 250 adventures at Lake Herman State Park and won an RTIC 20 Qt Soft Cooler, sponsored by Independent Insurance Agents of South Dakota! Jacki received her prize at Union Grove State Park, where it was presented by Game, Fish and Parks staff.

Lake Herman State Park is a great destination for water-based recreation, offering opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, camping, and enjoying beautiful views of the lake. Union Grove State Park provides a peaceful setting among the rolling hills of southeastern South Dakota, with hiking, camping, fishing, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

Adventure 250: Make Your History has officially wrapped up, and we want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated! From exploring new parks and trying new activities to sharing adventures with family and friends, you helped make this summer one to remember.

We're officially one month away from the 26th Fall Festival! Did you know that we run multiple contests during the weekend? Everyone is invited to sign up for the pumpkin decorating contest on October 3rd. There will be a prize for the best youth and best adult decorated pumpkin.
