June 19 commemorates the date in 1865 when the last enslaved people in the United States were officially freed. While Juneteenth is considered the longest running African-American holiday, it only became an official federal holiday in 2021.

IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE

The library serves as a safe place for community members to seek shelter during severe weather.

If a tornado warning is issued while the library is open, any children attending library programs without a parent or guardian present will remain at the library until the warning has expired and it's safe to leave.

We encourage parents and guardians who are in the building to remain at the library as well. However, that decision will be left to each family based on their individual circumstances.

Scheduled programs for today will proceed as usual.

Thank you and stay safe out there!
