UPDATE 8/8/26

The Fulton County Coroner Austin Rhodes can confirm a single vehicle collision fatality that occurred on IL 97, just north of the intersection of North East Street and West Carter Street in Fairview on 8/7/26, at approximately 2:45 pm. Emergency services were called to the location after a semi-truck traveling northbound on IL 97 left the roadway striking a tree. After the arrival of emergency responders, it was determined the driver of the semi-truck was deceased.

The driver has been identified as Todd Brown, 54, of Hanna City.

An autopsy for Brown is scheduled on 8/10/26 in Peoria County. Toxicology testing is pending per Illinois state statute. The coroner’s office and the Illinois State Police are continuing to investigate this incident.

The Fulton County Coroner Austin Rhodes can confirm a single vehicle collision fatality that occurred on IL 97, just north of the intersection of North East Street and West Carter Street in Fairview on 8/7/26, at approximately 2:45 pm. The incident resulted in a fatality of the driver and sole occupant of a commercial vehicle. The identification of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notification. Currently this incident remains under investigation by the Fulton County Coroner's Office and The Illinois State police. This post will be updated at a later time.

We want to thank the Peoria County Coroner’s office for the last couple days of training! Our staff was in attendance both days. The coroners collaborative covered the topics of toxicology trends, the donation process with gift of hope, forensic photography and other best practice death investigation techniques!

Throughout the week our coroner’s office attended a class hosted by the ICMEA in Starved Rock. The topics taught over this past week were environmental and vehicular deaths. The class was taught by Daren Dake, the founder the death investigations academy. What a great class!

Today staff members of the coroner’s office and other public safety agencies participated in cop on a rooftop, to raise money for Special Olympics!

Last week a few our deputy coroner’s attended LLRMI’s lead homicide investigator certification course put on by the ILETSB in Peoria. Good job to our deputies for obtaining this certification!

Yet another class took place last week. This time the class, 40hr Lead Homicide, was held in Peoria at Central Illinois Police Training Center. As you can see in the picture below the class was well attended!

Update on missing person, Kenneth Johnson.

Joint Press Release from Sheriff Webb and Coroner Rhodes:

The Fulton County Coroner's Office is releasing the identification of the deceased male who was found in a wooded area in rural Lewistown. A ground search was performed and the individual was located approximately 500 yards north of where his vehicle had been parked. Fulton County Coroner Austin Rhodes positively identifies the deceased male as Kenneth Johnson, 59, of Canton. An autopsy was performed on today’s date in Peoria County. Routine toxicology testing is pending. No foul play is suspected. This incident continues to be investigated by the coroner's and sheriff's office.

The Sheriff's Office and Coroner's Office were assisted by Canton Police, Lewistown Police, Farmington Police, Fulton County ESDA, Illinois Conservation Police and the Illinois State Police Air Ops.

This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and we would like to publicly acknowledge and thank our dispatchers for their hard work and dedication. Their job is almost always the first contact with someone having a bad day, and they do their job diligently all day, every day.

Thank you for your service, and thank you for being the voice of calm, compassion, and reassurance on the other end of the phone and the radio.
