⚠️ Environmental Update: Nimishillen Creek Oil Spill
CCPH was made aware of an oil spill that recently impacted Nimishillen Creek north of Cook's Lagoon in Canton, and a spill advisory was documented. We are sharing this information to raise public awareness of the spill and to provide resources for those who fish or wade in the creek. This spill has been addressed, and there is no public health concern. Statewide creek fish consumption advisories are in place.
🐟 Before eating fish caught in local waters, check Ohio's Fish Consumption Advisories. For Nimishillen Creek, consumption of Common Carp is generally recommended to be limited to once per month due to PCB levels, while all other species follow the statewide advisory at one meal per week.
