Local residents and farmer/entrepreneurs Lisa and Drew Remley met with the members of the Canton Lions club during the regular meeting Wednesday, January 21st, 2026. The Remleys relocated to Roaring Branch, PA from the Lancaster, PA area in 2007. They built their first 4400 head Quad Hub Barn for raising pigs on a farm that Drew's father purchased in the late 1960's. As the farm operation grew, they built an additional Quad Hub Barn followed by a nursery facility for raising piglets. The current operation is capable of handling approximately 20,000 pigs. The growth of the operation presented a major challenge with processing the animal manure. As a result the Remley's undertook a 5-year project to build a large scale methane digester to process the waste product into electrical power. The facility became operational in 2017 and currently provides enough electrical energy to power the farm operation as well as several other farms. In addition to converting the animal waste into energy the digester also suppresses much of the odor associated with the waste. The entire Remley family is involved in running and managing the operation including Lisa and Drew's two sons. Their daughter is busy operating a dog boarding and breeding facility called Happy Hounds nearby. The Remley's also farm approximately 1800 acres of crops to help support the farm.

A huge thank you to both Lisa and Drew for taking the time to speak with us.
