Tye Preston Memorial Library (henceforth TPML) utilizes social media channels to promote library events and resources, connect with our patrons, and share posts relevant to the Comal County community and the mission of the library. Definitions

• Examples of social media employed by TPML include:
1. Instagram

6. TikTok
Interactions: Posts, comments, or reactions generated by the public on TPML’s posts/social media channels
TPML Usage and Posting
• TPML posts directly to social media channels to share updates regarding the library such as events and programming, new and featured materials, and library hour changes/closures.
• TPML may also promote posts and stories relevant to the Comal County community. Such posts may concern matters such as information on school district updates and accomplishments, Canyon Lake access updates, and/or road closures impacting the area surrounding TPML. Public Comments and Posts
• TPML social media channels are managed and reviewed primarily by the Adult Services Coordinator (henceforth ASC). The ASC will monitor social media channels to respond to messages and comments in a timely manner.
• The public is welcome to comment, share, and interact with all posts made by TPML. All social media content posted is subject to the Public Information Act,
However, the following guidelines must be followed:
1. Interactions are relevant to the post itself and do not devolve too far off the post’s topic.
2. Interactions are individual and unique (i.e., not spamming the post with repetitive comments or TPML social media pages with the same post multiple times).
3. Interactions do not contain offensive, obscene, abusive, or threatening language and/or that meant to harass or target either other individuals or groups, including hate speech based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, age, gender, sexuality, or any other demographic.
4. Interactions do not contain trademarked or copyrighted materials/those that the individual does not have the right to post.
• TPML social media accounts are a limited public forum. As such, any social media content posted must pertain to the scope and purpose of the page. If interactions from the public are found to be in violation of any of the above guidelines, they may be removed from TPML’s social media channels and the user responsible may be blocked and prohibited from interacting with the TPML social media on which the violation occurred.
