Don’t miss the Screwworm Informational Update Meeting hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service-Potter and Randall Counties on Monday, August 24 at 5:30 PM!

Join us at the new AgriLife Center; 3211 Russel Long Boulevard on the WTAMU Campus in Canyon, Texas 79015.

Get up-to-date insights on screwworm activity, along with hands-on information about detection, reporting, sampling, and treatment.

Subject: 2026 MANDATORY Stock Show Update Meetings

If your family plans to exhibit ANY livestock during the upcoming 2027 RCJLS or ANY upcoming 2027 Spring Major Stock Shows, you MUST attend any one of (3) upcoming meetings.

1.) Monday, August 24 @ 6:30pm-Randall County Extension Office
2.) Monday, August 31 @ 6:30pm-Canyon High School Auditorium
3.) Tuesday, September 1 @ 6:30pm- Randall High School Auditorium

At least (1) family member MUST attend!

At these meetings we will verbally go over ALL 2027 RCJLS and ALL Major Show Rule Changes, Stock Show Dates, entry deadlines and required validation information for ALL species. Families will also receive an informational packet with all corresponding documents.

We will also provide all instructions for ticket sales for the upcoming “2026 RCJLS “Steak Out” Event to be held on Saturday October 17, 2026 at Amarillo Civic Center.

The 49th Annual Randall County Crops Tour will be held on (Tuesday August 25) at the Kuhlman Extension Center, located at 200 North Brown Rd. in Canyon, Texas.

Registration starts at 8:30am with the program beginning at 9:00am. This year’s topics will include; Wheat Update-2026 Recap and 2027 Outlook, Wildfire Recovery-Cattle Nutritional Needs and Pasture Management Strategies, Data Centers Update-The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly!

Our noon luncheon and awards presentations will feature keynote speaker, Holly Jeffrey’s- Texas House Speaker Representative District 86.

Afternoon Tours will focus on Randall County wildfire pasture recovery and management. Two sites have been selected for comparison. #1 will feature an improved grass pasture that recently was converted from cultivation to native grass just prior to the wildfire. Site #2 is a longtime traditional native grass pasture.

3 CEUs will be provided! Everyone is welcome to attend at NO COST, thanks to the sponsorship of Happy Bank. Please RSVP your attendance by 5:00pm Friday August 21 by scanning the QR Code located on our promotional flyer, or by simply calling the Randall County Extension Office at (806) 468-5543.

As your making plans for this coming week, be sure to to put this GREAT educational program on your schedule for Wednesday!

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service-Randall County is hosting a “Sick Tree & Plant Clinic” on (Wednesday July 8, 2026) at 5:30pm. The Clinic will be held at the Kuhlman Extension Center located at (200 North Brown Rd. Canyon, Tx 79015).

If you are currently experiencing any kind of sick tree, plants, garden vegetables or fruit. Please bring your live sample or photos of infected area of leaves, branches, plants and/or roots to this clinic.

Dr. Stephanie Adams, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Tree and Landscape Plant Health Specialist from College Station, Tx will be on hand and provide her professional diagnosis of the issue and recommendation for proper treatment.

Additionally, following the program we’ll take a “Tree Tour” at the Canyon East Cemetery. There we will view multiple tree varieties, examine issues and discuss proper treatment for each.

A $10 per participant Cost Recovery Fee is requested and payable at the door.

Please RSVP your attendance by utilizing the QR Code located on the attached flyer. You may also register by simply calling the Randall County Extension Office at (806) 468-5543. Be sure to register by 12noon on Tuesday July 7!

The recent Randall County Wildfires on May 14 and 15 were divesting! Wiped out a total 35,261 acres, 9 homes were destroyed, multiple barns and small structures and 154 miles of fences!

The good Lord took care of us and blessed us with NO human fatalities or loss of cattle or horses! Our overwhelming gratitude and continues Thank You is shared with all first responders who assisted during this horrible tragedy!

Randall County Producers are in immediate need of donated hay and trucking along with monetary contributions for fence rebuilding!

YOUR IMMEDIATE HELP IS REQUESTED! Here’s how, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Randall County has set up a 501c3 account to assist Randall County Producers. The account is at Happy State Bank (1908 4th Ave Canyon, Texas 79015).

The account is now ready to receive any monetary contributions. You may stop by or simply call the bank at (806) 655-2265 and they can assist you with your request. Please ask for the “Randall County Agriculture Wildfire Relief Fund”.
