Thanks to everyone who came out to play or just listen at last nights Mayors Jam! I was really impressed with the young guys that played, its great to see live music being kept alive with the next generation. I may do it again next month if there is enough interest!

Happy 250th Birthday America!!! I was a freshman in high school during our 200th birthday in 1976 and remember how it seemed the country was more unified if only on agreeing that with all the troubles we may had, such as the Viet Nam War. we were still so blessed to be in this country. Our first amendment has saved us from so much trouble by granting us all free speech and not having any religion being held higher than any other or have influence on the government. One look at Iran and you see where the good people there are held hostage by religious zealots. In order to last another 50yrs we must instill the importance of upholding our rights and never surrender them for the illusion of security and safety. I love the statement from the German tourist. ''if you want to hate America watch the news, if you want to love America, drive thru it!'' I encourage everyone to celebrate this weekend and reflect on the positives that this country has done for itself and the world and why millions risk their lives to come here.

While the town is trying to round up sponsors to support the Sounds by the Sound concert series, I hate to see our big stage go unused so on July 14th we will have our first Mayors Jam!! We have so many great musicians in our town so lets play!! I will have all the PA Equipment extra guitars, keyboards. A huge thank you to Paul David & Robby Wells who will be providing drums! So bring your talent, bring your instrument, bring your friends and family abd lets rock the Cape!!!!

Wishing everyone a safe Memorial Day weekend. Please take a moment to remember the reason for this holiday, its not about veterans but the ones who paid the ultimate price for our country. Our freedom has been paid for with blood, and we must not forget the ultimate sacrifices that have been made on our behalf.

I had the honor of attending the winter reception of the 2nd Aircraft Wing last week at Cherry Point and had the privilege to meet some of these awesome Americans that serve this great nation. God speed to them all.

The commander of U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) has directed all installations to implement heightened security measures at all entry gates until further notice. These measures include but are not limited to100% ID checks, random vehicle inspections, and the suspension of the Trusted Traveler Program until further notice.

The Trusted Traveler Program previously allowed DoD-affiliated sponsors to vouch for vehicle occupants for installation access. At this time, all unvetted visitors must report to the installation visitor center (Pass & ID) to request access.

Drivers should plan for delays, as well as possible random inspections at all access control points and gates. These enhanced security measures are being implemented to safeguard our service members, civilians, and families, while ensuring our continued ability to generate and project combat power at the time and place of our Nation’s choosing.
