Today is the start of Police Week, 111 officers lost their lives in 2025 safeguarding communities across the nation. Among the 111 deaths are 9 female mothers that never made it home. God bless you and your families, and Happy Mothers Day, your dedication to family and service to your community will not be forgotten.

The Cape Charles Police Department, assisted by the Northampton Sheriff’s Department and Virginia State Police, have arrested a 46 year old, black male, Jamar Jones of Accomack county for the first degree murder of Calvin Cummings on February 18th. Jones is being held in the Northampton regional jail without bond. This investigation remains active and additional charges may be pending.
