🚧 Cape Coral Parkway 6-Lane Expansion Update 🚧

Drivers should expect overnight and daytime lane closures along Cape Coral Parkway this week as crews continue rewiring traffic signals and pedestrian poles as part of the Cape Coral Parkway 6-Lane Expansion Project.

📅 Monday, Aug. 24
🌙 Overnight partial closure at Cape Coral Parkway & Del Prado Boulevard beginning at 9 p.m.
• Northbound and southbound traffic on Del Prado will be detoured.
• Eastbound and westbound traffic on Cape Coral Parkway will remain open.
• A police officer will be on site.

🌙 Overnight partial closure at Cape Coral Parkway & Vincennes Street beginning at 9 p.m.
• Northbound and southbound traffic on Vincennes will be detoured.
• Eastbound and westbound traffic on Cape Coral Parkway will remain open.

Single right-lane daytime closures are planned throughout the week to rewire pedestrian poles at the remaining six intersections:
• Chiquita Boulevard
• Skyline Boulevard
• Pelican Boulevard
• Palm Tree Boulevard
• Coronado Parkway
• Leonard Street

🚧 Cape Coral Parkway Project Update

Work on the signalization portion of the Cape Coral Parkway project begins today, August 17, at the Chiquita Boulevard and Cape Coral Parkway intersection.

Drivers can expect single right-lane closures as crews work east through several Cape Coral Parkway intersections. Closures will be scheduled to help minimize disruptions.

📍 Work will progress through:
• Chiquita Boulevard
• Skyline Boulevard
• Pelican Boulevard
• Palm Tree Boulevard
• Coronado Parkway
• Leonard Street
• Vincennes Boulevard
• Del Prado Boulevard

This week, work will take place during the day with single right-lane closures. Vincennes Boulevard and Del Prado Boulevard are scheduled for nighttime work next week, and this will include partial intersection closures. Detours will be posted where needed, and a police officer will be present at Del Prado. Following this work, the first six intersections are expected to undergo partial closures at night also, but this work has not been scheduled yet.

Please use caution, follow posted signs, and allow extra travel time while work is underway.

🏗️ A major mixed-use development has been proposed for the Bimini Basin area.

The proposed Bimini East project would bring new housing, hotels, restaurants, retail, office space, parking, a marina, and public amenities to approximately 34 acres east of Bimini Square.

Highlights of the proposal include:
🏢 Up to 900 residential units
🏨 250 hotel rooms
🛍️ Retail, dining, and entertainment space
⚓ Marina and waterfront improvements
🌳 Enhancements to Four Freedoms Park

City Council recently provided consensus to continue negotiations on a developer agreement. Any future agreement and incentives would return to City Council and the CRA Board for public review and approval before moving forward.

The $500 million Bimini East project proposes 900 residences, hotel rooms, retail, and offices along Cape Coral Parkway East, expanding on the success of the $125 million Bimini Square development.

🚧 Traffic Alert – Cape Coral Pkwy E 🚧

Starting today, LCEC will reduce westbound traffic on Cape Coral Pkwy E to a single lane between Palm Tree Boulevard and Santa Barbara Boulevard.

Work is scheduled to take place during daytime hours, with the roadway reopening to normal traffic by 3:00 p.m. each day. Crews will begin work early in the morning to help minimize impacts and complete the project as quickly as possible.

The goal is to complete the work in approximately 8 days, reducing the disruption from the originally anticipated 15-day timeframe.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the area, allow extra travel time, and consider alternate routes when possible.

The study will examine safety, mobility, congestion, flooding, and long-term resiliency while exploring ways to better support driving, walking, biking, and transit.

Residents, business owners, and visitors are encouraged to take the online survey by June 30, 2026:

🚧 Traffic Advisory: Periodic Road Closures on SE 47th Terrace 🚧

The City was made aware late yesterday, May 19, that SE 47th Terrace is currently blocked near the LCEC substation at the corner of SE 8th Court and SE 47th Terrace near Coronado. The closure is due to ongoing work by LCEC subcontractor crews, who are digging a foundation at the site.

Please note: these closures are not permanent and will be periodic as work progresses at different locations between SE 9th Place and Palm Tree Boulevard. This work is expected to continue through the end of June.

At this time, traffic is being detoured between SE 8th Court and SE 9th Terrace. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes and use caution while traveling in the area.

Good news, Downtown Cape — help is on the way!

The Cape Coral Parkway East Six Lane Improvement Project is a $2.37 million investment designed to improve traffic flow, safety, and connectivity through one of the City’s busiest corridors.

Here’s what’s coming:
🚗 Six continuous travel lanes from Coronado Parkway to Del Prado Boulevard
🚦 Upgraded traffic signals to improve efficiency
🛣️ Fresh resurfacing for a smoother ride
📈 A 50% increase in travel lanes once aligned with Lee County’s Cape Coral Bridge six-laning project

And for everyone asking about parking… yes, more is coming there too!

With the completion of The Cove at 47th and Bimini Square parking garages, plus additional parking lots planned along Vincennes Street and SE 47th Terrace, the South Cape CRA district is expected to gain more than 300 new parking spaces this year.

More lanes. More parking. Better access. A stronger Downtown Cape.
