SADI is a proud community partner of the Blue Envelope Program - a way for first responders in Cape Girardeau County to recognize individual needs of a driver or passenger of a vehicle or while in the community. These needs may include a medical condition, communication challenge, developmental disability, or other special need. If you or a loved one is in need of supplies for this program, drop by SADI’s office for informational materials, an envelope, and other various items to help keep you safe! ✉️🩵

💜 Missouri’s Purple Alert is Here! 💜

We are excited that Missouri has joined the small group of states offering the Purple Alert, a new alert system designed to help locate missing individuals with disabilities.

At SADI, we know that when someone goes missing, every second matters. The Purple Alert helps fill a gap between existing alert systems, creating a more coordinated response while recognizing the unique needs of individuals with disabilities.

This new alert is more than just a notification—it brings disability awareness, education, and training to communities, while providing families with greater peace of mind when they need it most.

We were honored to be interviewed about this important new initiative and to share why the Purple Alert matters to individuals with disabilities, their families, and our communities.

We are proud to see Missouri taking this important step toward creating a safer, more inclusive response for everyone.

The Missouri Department of Public Safety has until July 1, 2027, to establish the new alert system >>> https://shorturl.at/Ya5U7

Healthcare Accessibility Is Changing — And That’s a Good Thing!

A pair of federal rules is bringing new, enforceable accessibility requirements to healthcare—helping ensure people with disabilities can receive care with the same access, dignity, and opportunity as everyone else.

For people with disabilities, accessibility in healthcare can mean the difference between being included and accommodated—or facing barriers to receiving the care they need.

At SADI, we believe accessibility should never be an afterthought. Everyone deserves healthcare that is accessible, respectful, and responsive to their individual needs.

Accessibility is not a luxury. It’s access to healthcare.

A pair of federal rules are imposing first-ever requirements designed to ensure that people with disabilities are better served when they visit the doctor.

💙 What a wonderful step toward inclusion!

We love seeing the Jackson R-2 School District create sensory rooms in each building throughout the district!

These spaces provide students of all abilities with a place to regulate, refocus, feel comfortable, and get the support they need to be successful at school. Creating environments where every student feels welcomed, understood, and included is so important.

We have no doubt these sensory rooms will be well utilized and make a meaningful difference for students and staff alike. 👏

Thank you, Jackson R-2, for recognizing the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and meeting students where they are! 💙

From soft lighting and quiet corners at the middle school level to tactile sensory tools at the elementary schools, these sensory rooms are designed to serve as safe havens for students who feel overwhelmed during the school day. ➡️ https://shorturl.at/5SUqB

☀️💦 That’s a wrap on Summer Camp for the year! 💦☀️

We had an amazing final day filled with fun, learning, and lots of smiles! We celebrated with a fun Water Day, enjoyed a pizza party, and played Bingo with some great prizes! 🍕🎉

Our campers also visited our mock store and used the money they earned by working on their independent living skills to purchase special treats. 🛍️🍬 We are so proud of all the hard work, growth, and independence they showed throughout Summer Camp!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this week so memorable. We had so much fun creating friendships, building skills, and making wonderful memories together! 💙💚

🌊☀️ Thursday Summer Camp Fun! ☀️🌊

What a fun-filled day at Summer Camp! Our campers had a little bit of everything today! 💙

🎶 We started our morning with silly songs and wiggle dances before working on independent living skills like budgeting, stocking shelves, sweeping, sorting silverware, and vacuuming. 🧹🛒

🌳 We enjoyed some outdoor/garden play, complete with popsicles, bubbles, and plenty of fun!

🎨 Then it was time to get creative with painting birdhouses and canvas! 🐦🌊

🍽️ We practiced social skills while preparing for lunch, enjoyed lunch with music and games, and worked together on cleaning up afterward.

🏖️ Our afternoon ended with salt painting before heading to our mock store to use the money we earned through our hard work and good choices! 🛍️💰

Another amazing day of learning, growing, and HAVING FUN! 💜🐠☀️
