Officers for the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey (COANJ) were sworn-in at the Annual Conference held at SeaView Hotel in Galloway. Somerset County Clerk Steve Peter became President; Hudson County Clerk E. Junior Maldonado took the oath as COANJ Secretary; Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon was sworn in as Vice President and Middlesex County Surrogate Claribel Cortes as Treasurer.
Outgoing COANJ President Morris County Surrogate Heather Darling presented the Legislator of the Year Award to Senator Joe Pennacchio. In addition, Darling presented Hudson County Clerk Junior Maldanado with the COANJ Gill C. Job Award for Outstanding Service and B**g Dizon of the Hudson County Clerk's Office with the Rita M. Rosenberg Award for outstanding service.
Section Chiefs for a new term are Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton; Monmouth County Surrogate Maureen Raisch and Atlantic County Clerk Joe Giralo.

The Officers for the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey (COANJ) were sworn-in at the Annual Conference held at SeaView Hotel in Galloway. Morris County Surrogate Heather J. Darling was sworn in as President by State Senator Anthony M. Bucco. Somerset County Clerk Steve Peter became Vice-President; Hudson County Clerk E. Junior Maldonado took the oath as COANJ Treasurer and Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon was sworn in as Secretary.

Outgoing COANJ President Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy presented the Legislator of the Year Award to Senate Minority Leader Anthony M. Bucco and outgoing Senator Richard J. Codey. In addition, Mastronardy presented Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon with the COANJ Gill C. Job Award for Outstanding Service and Antwan McClennan of the Cape May Sheriff’s Office with the Rita M. Rosenberg Award for outstanding service.

The members of COANJ are honored to join with elected County Officials across America in recognizing April as National County Government Month.
We’re proud of the many important services our offices provide to the public and welcome our residents to visit our offices to learn about the many vital functions we administer.
Our Sheriffs sponsor community crime prevention programs, maintain the safety/security of our courts. The Surrogates probate wills, process adoptions. The County Clerks & Registers administer elections, process passports and record property records.
These are just a few of the vast array of services and functions provided by our New Jersey Constitutional Officers in all 21 Counties throughout the State of New Jersey.
