Capitan Tigers The Capitan Municipal School District serves the rural Lincoln County community at three schools, serving students in Pre-K through grade 12.

Capitan Municipal Schools District Number 40 is located in rural Lincoln County, NM. Lincoln County is near the center of the state, covering 663.46 square miles of land area. The district population of 4,230 is served by three schools housing students in Pre-K through grade 12. With total district enrollment of just over 500 students, we are small in numbers but big on education.

Attention Contestants! Join us in the cool mountains of New Mexico this July 4th Holiday weekend. Talk about Cowboy Christmas!!! Eight perfs in four days!!! Mescalero Ceremonial & Rodeo during the day at 1 pm, then travel a quick 35 miles to the Stampede in Capitan for 7:30 pm performance followed by slack. July 1-4. Entries last year were 1215 contestants for all Smokey Bear Stampede events or 304 daily entry average.
