A victim of domestic violence responded to the Capitol Heights Police Department (CHPD) to seek assistance in serving a protective order against an individual. The CHPD Detective Bureau promptly reached out to the Anne Arundel County Police Department regarding the incident that took place on June 27, 2025, within their jurisdiction.

During discussions with officers from the Anne Arundel County Police, CHPD detectives were informed that the suspect was wanted on multiple active warrants, including charges of Assault First Degree, Assault – Second Degree, and Reckless Endangerment.

Today at approximately 2:30pm, members of the CHPD Detective Bureau, with assistance from the Patrol Unit, successfully located and apprehended the suspect. All the outstanding warrants were executed without incident.

The capitol Heights Police Department committed in working with our regional law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of our community and bring wanted individuals to justice.

Capitol Heights residents, protect yourself and your loved ones from heat stroke and heat exhaustion. The County issues an Extreme Heat Alert when temperatures or heat indexes are forecasted to reach 95 degrees or higher, creating hazardous conditions. Residents are also asked to check on elderly friends, relatives and neighbors who may be isolated and ensure they are not showing signs of heat-related illnesses.
Hot Weather Safety Tips
- Stay indoors, whenever possible
- Be careful to avoid strenuous activities that can result in overexposure to the sun, such as sports and gardening.
- Drink plenty of water - Avoid drinks containing alcohol or caffeine.
- When outdoors, wear proper protection from the sun.
- Never leave pets, young children, or the elderly in a vehicle for ANY amount of time, even with the window open - Monitor those at high risk.

Community Spotlight

On Friday, April 18, 2025, officers from Capitol Heights were dispatched to respond to a su***de call from a third party who happened to be the individual intending to take her own life during a therapy session. The individual expressed her exhaustion with life to her therapist and her intention to end her life. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the individual at the front door and inquired about her plans. She admitted to planning to use her handgun from the bedroom drawer. The officers successfully recovered the firearm and transported the individual to the local hospital for an emergency evaluation.

The professionalism displayed by the Capitol Heights Police officers is commendable.
