Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating our 2026 New Horizons Scholars at Cabrillo College.

This year’s scholars are students, parents, veterans, first-generation college students, and neighbors from throughout our community, each pursuing an education and creating new possibilities for themselves, their families, and our community.

A special thank you to scholar Briana Fernandez for sharing her story, Valerie Newcomb of Cabrillo College for her words of support, and Chris Murphy, President of the Santa Cruz Warriors, for joining us as our keynote speaker. Your words helped make the celebration much more meaningful.

We’re incredibly proud of this year’s scholars and grateful to everyone who helped make the celebration possible.

Congratulations, 2026 Scholars. We can’t wait to see where your new horizon takes you!

La semana pasada, tuvimos el honor de celebrar a nuestros Becarios de New Horizons 2026 en Cabrillo College.

Los becarios de este año son estudiantes, padres y madres de familia, veteranos, estudiantes universitarios de primera generación y miembros de nuestra comunidad. Cada uno está siguiendo sus metas educativas y creando nuevas oportunidades para sí mismos, sus familias y nuestra comunidad.

Un agradecimiento especial a la becaria Briana Fernandez por compartir su historia, a Valerie Newcomb de Cabrillo College por sus palabras de apoyo y a Chris Murphy, presidente de Santa Cruz Warriors, por acompañarnos como nuestro ponente principal. Sus palabras hicieron que esta celebración fuera aún más especial.
