It appears that Pele woke up from her power nap. The views of the summit eruption are incredible this morning!

USGS reports that the summit of Kīlauea began to reinflate from 6 p.m. to midnight last night, resulting in increased lava lake growth. The gas plume wafting out of Halemaʻumaʻu Crater is much more robust today.

Volcanic activity can change at any time. Check the park website for information on air quality, viewing areas, and how to plan ahead for a safe and fun visit: https://go.nps.gov/new-eruption

This tired leaf has been played with all morning by many spinner dolphins. They catch it on their pectoral fin or their nose, let it float off to their tail fin, drop it, come around to get it again and again. Then another dolphin lifts it with his head and continues playing with it dropping it off for me to play, picks it up before I can reach it and carries it around and around again!🐬🍃🏊🏻‍♀️
