My 95 year old grandpa is alive and well served in WW2. I honor and respect him and everyone who has served. To those have given the ultimate sacrifice we salute you. Please be safe today.

🚒🌴 SUPPORT YOUR ISLAND FIRE DEPARTMENT 🌴🚒

The Upper Captiva Fire and Rescue District recently purchased a new Kubota tractor and PTO (power take-off) pump to strengthen fire suppression capabilities, emergency response, and island pathway maintenance across Upper Captiva (North Captiva).

Now, the department is working to replenish the funds used for this critical investment in community safety.

Because of Upper Captiva’s unique terrain, specialized equipment like a compact tractor paired with a PTO-driven pump can make a tremendous difference in emergency situations. This equipment helps firefighters:

• Move through sandy and off-road areas more efficiently
• Pump large volumes of water where fire trucks cannot reach
• Improve wildfire and brush fire response capabilities
• Maintain critical island pathways for safer emergency access

Every contribution directly supports the safety and protection of our island community, residents, visitors, and first responders.

Good afternoon you incredible Islanders we appear to have a golf cart that has wandered from her watering hole and unable to find her way back. We will feed her and water her but would like her to get back to her family. If you know the owner please let them know she's in good hands. She is eager to return to her family.

UPDATE our lost 4 wheeled friend has found her way home apparently. She is no longer abandoned at the firehouse. We wish her a long and happy life with her owners. Thank you for all the help you fine people.

Happy Good Friday. The fire district wants to say thank you to the volunteers, sponsors, and participants who supported our Fun Run 2026!!!! I unfortunately was stuck as a short order cook and couldn't mingle. I do hope the breakfast sandwiches met everyone's expectations. Next year I will make sure they are ready to go so I can come down and thank everyone in person. I believe this fundraiser was a huge success and we look forward to next year's Fun Run!!!!

Please see the image. I know there was some discussion regarding why the fire department didn't provide enough notice the last time LCEC held a community meeting. We were provided this information this week and we wanted to pass it along. We will always do our best to include the community in anything we do at the fire department. I just wanted to thank the awesome Upper Captiva community for showing support for the fire department. We prepared 35 # of corned beef 30 # of cabbage 30 # of carrots and taters and within 30 minutes all the corned beef was consumed. We also cooked 32 hotdogs and they were gone in 30 min. We also wanna thank
The Proper Palm Cottage Bakery they donated desert and rolls. Winn Dixie on Pine Island donated the corned beef, cabbage, carrots and potatoes. We feel blessed to be included in this fantastic community. I look forward to July 4th when we will again have an outing. We have St Patty's day shirts still available so pop on by and pick em up!!!! Again thank you!!!!

Tuesday will be St. Patty's day. We will host a luncheon after the island clean up. Corned beef and cabbage. The food is free but we always welcome donations. Hats and shirts will be for sale. We have The Fighting Flamingo and our normal shirts we sell to the public. We will also have hot dogs for those of you who may not enjoy a plate of food. Soda pop and cookies as well. Look forward to seeing ya on Tues. The weather will be cool so dress warm. Then we will participate in the island golf cart parade. Gonna be a fantastic day.

The fire district is breaking in the Christmas gift the Islanders purchased. The smoker is fantastic and we couldn't be more pleased. On that note we will host a Superbowl get together at the station on Feb 8th. We will smoke some swine and yard birds. We will have sides to go with the meal. We will have the game being projected on a 110 inch screen. Regardless of the teams playing. We look forward to seeing you on Superbowl Sunday. If you plan on attending just reply to the post so I can have a proper head count.
