After hearing lots of good questions about the details of the pool design (ie, outdoor vs indoor) and the cost (ie, potential inflation changing the design) I want to clarify what a YES or a NO vote really means:
Voting YES is a vote to build the best new pool we can with up to $8M in bonds, paid for with the existing Park and Rec sales tax. The final design will be based on the conceptual draft, but many more details will be worked out. The original estimate to build the conceptual design was $7M, but the Board of Trustees asked for up to $8M to factor in inflation. If we find that even $8M isn't enough for that design, we'll build what we can with $8M.
Voting NO is a vote against building a new pool with existing funding. Voting NO will not lead to an indoor pool, or a less expensive pool, or a pool with a few different features. It will mean that we continue to do our best to keep the current pool functional as long as possible, then we likely have to close it when a major system fails.
Hopefully that adds some clarity to the choice we're making on April 5. Please vote!
