We’re seeing more kids out riding with the warmer weather and that’s a great thing! 🚲☀️

It’s also a good time for a reminder that bicycles follow the same rules of the road as vehicles. That means everyone - drivers and riders - has a role in keeping things safe.

🚗Drivers: slow down and watch for kids, especially in neighborhoods and around school routes.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Parents: take a minute to go over bike safety before they head out.

A little awareness goes a long way in preventing accidents.

If you have questions about the rules of the road or bike safety, we’re always happy to help.

During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank our incredible Osage County, KS Sheriff's Office Dispatchers.

They are the steady voice in the dark, the calm in the chaos, and the lifeline connecting our community to help when it matters most. No matter the hour or the situation, they answer the call - bringing reassurance, guidance, and strength to those who need it.

Their work is often unseen, but never unappreciated. We are grateful for their dedication, professionalism, and the compassion they show every single day.

Thank you for being the voice our community can count on.
Answering the Call, Every Time.

🚨 Help Us Protect Our Community Spaces 🚨

The Carbondale Police Department is working closely with the City of Carbondale regarding the ongoing vandalism and misuse of the park restrooms.

If you have any information related to these incidents, we ask that you please contact the Carbondale Police Department at 785-836-7377. Your assistance can help us address this issue and keep our parks safe and accessible for everyone.

We appreciate the community’s support in protecting and respecting our public spaces.

🚨 Community Notice – Park Restroom Use 🚨

The City of Carbondale is asking for the public’s cooperation in helping us maintain safe, clean, and accessible park facilities for everyone.

We have experienced ongoing issues with vandalism and misuse of the park restrooms, including smoking inside the facilities and the intentional clogging of toilets with trash, excessive toilet paper, and other materials. This behavior is unacceptable and creates unsafe and unsanitary conditions for all visitors.

Parents and guardians are reminded to please supervise your children while visiting the park and using these facilities.

If this damage and destruction continue, we will have no choice but to close the restrooms to public use. This is not an outcome we want, as these facilities are an important amenity for our community.

We respectfully ask all park visitors to take pride in our shared spaces, use facilities appropriately, and report any misuse when observed.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our parks clean, safe, and open for everyone.

’Twas the night before Citywide, and all through the town,
The deals were laid out and the prices marked down.
The shoppers were ready with coffee in hand,
For treasure-filled tables all over the land… 🫶

As you head out tomorrow and Sunday, a few friendly reminders from CPD:
🟢 Inspect items carefully before purchasing
🟢 Do not leave wallets, cash, or valuables in unattended vehicles
🟢 Follow all traffic laws, yes, even if you spot an antique lamp that feels life-changing 🙃
🔴 Please do not block roadways. If parking along the street, pull as far off the roadway as possible
🔴 Do not park in private drives, private yards, or areas marked “No Parking”
CPD will be patrolling throughout the weekend to help keep traffic flowing and ensure everyone is navigating safely.

👀 Citywide sales bring increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic, so take a few extra seconds at stop signs and crosswalks to ensure no pedestrians are in your path.

If you need assistance, please contact CPD at 785-836-7377 or Dispatch at 785-828-3121 to reach the on-duty officer.

Have fun, stay safe, and happy shopping!

Monday night, we had the honor of recognizing Chief Seals for 10 years of dedicated service to the Carbondale community.

For a decade, she has served with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the people of our city. Whether facing challenges head-on or taking the time to connect with someone in need, she consistently strives to leave every person she encounters a little better than she found them.

Her leadership, resilience, and willingness to continue learning set the standard for our department and inspire those around her every day. And if you’ve ever met her out in the community, you probably know... She’s also known for always having plenty of suckers on hand… which may or may not make her the most popular person at any given scene. 👀🍭

We are grateful for her service, proud to serve alongside her, and thankful for the positive impact she continues to make in Carbondale.

Please join us in congratulating her on this milestone and in thanking her for 10 years of service! 👏
