Exact imitation is impractical. A reasonable facsimile is impressionistic of the natural and for the most part Works.
Of course there are still an infinity of variables to deal with when fishing for trout with the dry fly.

I tye comparaduns for Dette flies Main st Livingston Manor Ny.
I use the best hair I can find.
I began tying comparaduns for The Delaware River Club late 90s.
I use Caucci/Nastasi Spectrumized rabbit fur dubbing.
