Artist Statement

By disrupting boundaries and creating new interpretations of the familiar, my work challenges the relationship of the conscious and unconscious mind, bringing attention to our biases while

raising awareness of how we perceive and question our surroundings. Materials and forms are presented in a simultaneously traditional and nontraditional approach to challenge norms and evoke questions. The peculiarities provided by the illogical use of materials, and curiosities generated by clay forms, which nod to function but elude utility, create a space for viewers to explore and interpret what is seen and how we perceive the world around us.

Friend of the Flathead! Fall classes are now open for registration at Stumptown Art Studio. Join me for clay and painting classes or one of the other fabulous instructors for glass, clay, and other great classes!

Friend outside of the Flathead: there are new on-demand classes for kids, families and adults (great for slumber party or birthday party activities or just a family Art night!) as well as a Remote Adult Painting class!

Learn the basics of using the potter's wheel! Dive into wedging, centering, and pulling to create functional pottery forms. This class will explore mugs, bowls and plates.

“Deconstructed Form; An Investigation of Silhouette, Contour and Shape,” which is on exhibit at the HUB Gallery through Dec. 4, uses about 80 pieces of ceramics and two-dimensional paintings to show that space.
