Carbondale Seed Library

Carbondale Seed Library The library is a seed sharing resource that is located at the Carbondale Public Library.

People may take up to 5 packs per person of open-pollinated seeds per daily visit. They're also encouraged to bring in and share non-invasive open pollinated seeds. The Carbondale Seed Library offers free, open-pollinated seeds to community members who may grow flowers, trees, or shrubs and enjoy fresh vegetables from their gardens. Borrowers are welcome and encouraged to save seeds from those pla

nts and return the locally proven varieties to the Seed Library. A repurposed microfilm cabinet at the circulation desk of the Carbondale Public Library contains the seed packs along with resource materials for learning about seed saving.

Do you love plants as much as Carbondale Seed Library? We have a little group that meets every month to learn together about the healing properties of plants. They are so beautiful and complex, like us! For one, they do not just address one thing the same way that allopathic medicine targets a single organ or function. Most herbs and plants used for medicine have a number of chemical components with different remedies. So much to learn. We meet Mondays usually midway in the month. Next time is July 22. Join us if you feel called!

Meet artist and herbalist Stephanie Lindquist to Carbondale for two workshops for plant learning, sensing and preparing.
Stephanie writes: When we respect plants’ gifts and limits, we respect humans’ too. When experienced intentionally pleasure with plants can be a positive feedback loop that encourages us to make healthy sustainable decisions for ourselves and environments.
It’s time for those of us who have forgotten our plant connections to reclaim them.
Our bodies crave them and our world will be richer for it.
April 24 at 5 at Bucky's dome (Campus lake trail),
April 27 at noon at Washington Street Garden. All free. Snacks
