General Description

The City of Green Bay is seeking an experienced fire service administrator with exceptional interpersonal skills and progressive management experience to serve as its Fire Chief. The successful candidate will possess a proven track record of innovative initiatives that have resulted in operational efficiencies. The Fire Chief has overall direction of fire prevention, fire suppression and emergency medical services (EMS).

The City of Green Bay is a thriving city; it is the third largest city in the State of Wisconsin with a population of approximately 105,000 and home to the Green Bay Packers. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department services the City of Green Bay and the neighboring villages of Allouez and Bellevue. The Fire Department has approximately 210 employees, 9 fire stations and an operating budget of $27.5 million. In 2021, the department had a total of 15,972 service runs with 11,072 of these runs for emergency medical services.

Strong strategic leadership and communication skills are required as well as labor relations, project management and budgetary experience. Candidate should be able to demonstrate a history of successful partnerships with other municipal and fire service agencies, promoting cooperation and increased efficiency.

Please take a few minutes to review information about the Public Safety Management program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. If, after reviewing this material, you choose to take advantage of SIU’s bachelor's PSM degree program, please complete and submit an online application.

Although there is typically a $40 application fee, you can use the PROMO CODE “TRANSFER22” to have this application fee waived with applications submitted through February 21st. Please remember to indicate which semester or term you are applying for (i.e.spring 2022, summer 2022, fall 2022 OR spring 2022). Please make sure you indicate on the application the location where you will attend the face-to-face classes (Joliet Junior College or University Center College of Lake County). If not sure, please give me a call.
