El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional en Grand Junction ha emitido una alerta roja por riesgo de incendio por debajo de los 8000 pies debido a vientos fuertes, baja humedad relativa y vegetación seca. Esta alerta estará vigente desde el mediodía hasta las 10 p. m. (hora de verano de las Montañas Rocosas) del martes. La vigilancia meteorológica por riesgo de incendio ya no está vigente.

Last week, Roaring Fork Fire Rescue welcomed kids from the Aspen Science Center Fire Science Summer Camp. The campers enjoyed learning about wildland fire behavior, firefighting gear, and wildfire science. On the final day, we celebrated with an ice cream social, a water fight, and the kids impressed us with everything they had learned. We look forward to seeing you again next year.

Critical fire weather conditions continue today as winds are
expected to gust up to 35-45 mph in the afternoon and relative
humidity again drops into the single digits. Thursday and Friday,
dry air remains but winds weaken, leading to more spotty areas of
critical fire weather. A brief system passes through Saturday,
once again ramping up gusts without any moisture relief,
increasing fire weather concerns once more.

Hoy persisten las condiciones críticas para la propagación de incendios, con rachas de viento que alcanzarán entre 56 y 72 km/h por la tarde y una humedad relativa que volverá a descender a valores de un solo dígito. El jueves y el viernes, el aire seco continuará, pero los vientos se debilitarán, lo que provocará más zonas aisladas con condiciones críticas para la propagación de incendios. El sábado, un breve sistema meteorológico intensificará nuevamente las rachas de viento sin que disminuya la humedad, aumentando así la preocupación por las condiciones propicias para incendios.

Thank you to the Upper Frying Pan community for your donations and support during this fire.

The fire was transitioned to the USFS last evening, they will continue to use Station 43 as their hub until the fire is completely secured.

June 14, 8 p.m. Firefighters brought the 20-acre Spring Creek Fire to 90 percent containment today. The fire, which is in Eagle County near Thomasville, has not grown in three days and shows little activity except for small areas of heat within the perimeter.

Firefighters will continue to secure the remaining 10 percent of the perimeter (red on the map), patrol the entire perimeter, and begin repairing suppression lines where appropriate. The 10 percent uncontained perimeter is on a steep slope with many dead aspen snags that make access difficult. The challenge with bringing this area into containment continues to be the difficulty of the terrain, not active fire, and firefighters are making progress.

The seasonal opening of several Forest Service roads was postponed from today until Tuesday to reduce traffic for firefighter and public safety. This includes the Eagle-Thomasville (400), Burnt Mountain (506), Powerline (414) and Hat Creek (416) roads.

Update Spring Creek Fire

As of 9 a.m. on June 13, 2026, the evacuation orders for the Spring Creek Fire (formerly called the Thomasville fire) have been lifted. Fire suppression will continue on the Spring Creek Fire. A road closure will remain in place. Only residents and public safety traffic will be allowed. Check ECEmergency.org for the latest map.
