Pitkin County, and Eagle County including all USFS and BLM lands within is moving into Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, effective at 12:01 a.m. (midnight) on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Aug. 24, 2026. 4 p.m. – Firefighters called the 28.7-acre Kittle Fire southwest of Ruedi Reservoir 100 percent contained this afternoon.

Firefighters will continue to monitor the fire for the next several days.

Stage 2 fire restrictions remain in place across the White River National Forest, meaning no fires are allowed, even in developed campgrounds. Firefighters continue to address lightning-ignited fires across the fire unit daily, and any human-caused fires will pull resources away from that effort.

In just a few short weeks it will be 25 years since the attack that claimed our sisters, brothers and fellow Americans. We remember their sacrifice and commit to hold space for their loss and the loss to their friends and family. We climb in their honor and to symbolically carry that loss for even just a fraction of the past 25 years.
Please join us to help them carry that burden if only for a few hours.
What: ALL WELCOME to the 9/11 Memorial Climb in the Town of Snowmass.
When: 9/11/26 6pm
Where: We will meet at the Snowmass Recreation/Rodeo lot and walk along the bike path to Upper Carriage Way and then to the Top of the Village.
Notes: Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes for walking. Firefighters may wear their bunker gear with athletic shoes. We will meet for refreshments and fellowship afterward at the Stewpot in Snowmass Village Mall.

Congratulations!

A Tribute and park dedication next to Alpine Bank Basalt August 15th for Wally & Peppy Dallenbach, including a brief parade for the 50th Annual Colorado 500 motorcycle riders, the Basalt Ambulance named ‘Wally’ and the original Ambulance, along with a few vintage cars! This will be a very short but deeply meaningful event to recognize the great things the Dallenbach’s did for the community and beyond, and also recognizing the Colorado 500 50th Anniversary Charity Ride.
