The chef is still TBD, but if the season opener taught us anything, it's that Carencro doesn't miss on this part either. Good food is coming.

Phase I-B went out to bid last month, and the city has been carefully reviewing those bids to find the right team for the job. It's a quieter stage, more desks than construction sites, but it's the groundwork that makes sure the next phase goes smoothly for the neighborhoods waiting on it. From here, the process moves to council approval, a signed contract, and a preconstruction meeting to get crews in place. The project remains on schedule, with completion expected by August 2027.

This is the part of the work nobody sees, the paperwork and planning that make sure the actual construction goes right the first time. C'est Carencro.

A Carencro manufacturer will launch a $25.5 million expansion that will create 129 new jobs to expand its capabilities with aerospace and defense clients.

Coastal Machine & Supply, 4832 NE Evangeline Thruway, will build a 20,000-square-foot addition and follow it with a 100,000-square-foot addition to manufacture large, complex precision components while supporting additional workforce and engineering needs, Louisiana Economic Development officials announced Wednesday.

Tonight, Carencro does what it does best: turn a Wednesday into an event. The Nik-L-Beer Band opens the fall Mercredi season, and they don't stick to one sound, zydeco slides into swamp pop, soul turns into funk, and by the end of the set you'll have heard half the genres this state claims as its own, all in one night, all in Pelican Park.
