YLAT (Youth Leadership Advisory Team): The Voice of Maine's Youth in Foster Care
YLAT is a youth & adult partnership committed to improving the experience and long term outcomes for youth who are or who have been in foster care.
YLAT is for youth who are 14 and older and
• Currently in foster care
• Aged out of foster care
• Adopted out of foster care
• Live in a kinship placement
Or adults who are committed to partnering with youth while sharing resources & experience that support youth leadership capacity.
Maine’s YLAT is a dynamic group of young people from foster care and adult partners who are working to improve outcomes for all youth in foster care by improving the child welfare system and creating resources for youth. In 2008 YLAT was a finalist in the Innovations in American Government Awards vying for the Annie E. Casey Innovations Award in Child and Family Systems Reform
YLAT advocates for positive changes within the child welfare system on local,state, and national levels. Check out the YLAT calendar to find a meeting near you!! See less
