For Immediate Release:
Jasper County Commissioner’s has announced a County Wide burn ban starting September 1st. Under the burn ban, outdoor burning is prohibited throughout Jasper County, including the burning of brush, leaves, grass, trash, and any other combustible materials. The burning ban will remain in effect until September 30, 2026 or until conditions improve and the ban is officially lifted.

Low humidity, high heat, and decently high winds will keep the fire danger high all week. No outside burning 8/31/26 until conditions improve.

Daily highs in the middle to upper 90s, with a few locations around 100. Maximum heat index values around 100 to 105. Minimal overnight relief with lows in the middle to upper 70s. Stay cool and hydrated this week!

An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for a corridor from Joplin to Lake of the Ozarks as daily heat indices reach around 105 to 108 degrees through Wednesday. A Heat Advisory is in effect for the remainder of the area with heat indices reaching around 100 to 104 degrees. Heat sensitive groups will need to take proper precautions.

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect today with afternoon heat indices between 105 and 115 degrees. A Heat Advisory will then take effect on Tuesday with afternoon heat indices between 100 and 110 degrees.

A Heat Advisory has been issued for the entire area from this afternoon through Tuesday evening. High temperatures in the middle 90s to around 100 will result in heat index values around 100 to 110 degrees. Stay cool and hydrated!

Hot and humid conditions return to the area on Sunday into early next week. Highs in the 90s to around 100 degrees, with heat index values upwards of 100 to 110 degrees.

Hot and humid conditions will continue today. A Heat Warning and Advisory are in effect until 7 PM today for afternoon heat index values between 100 and 120 degrees.

Hot and humid conditions will occur on Monday and especially Tuesday. A Heat Advisory has been issued from 1 PM Monday to 7 PM Tuesday for afternoon heat index values between 100 and 110 degrees.
