"There are more than 300 Unified Champion Schools in the state of Michigan, there are more than 8,000 Unified Champion Schools across the entire country, but today the reason we are here is to recognize Waverly High School as a top 5 Unified Champion Schools across the country.

(This national banner) will hang in your high school gymnasium every single day, so when people walk into Waverly High school, when they walk into this gym, they know that this is a school that means inclusion, that is driven by acceptance, and that at Waverly high school, it is a place that is safe for all students."

With the school year in full swing, let's take a moment to revisit and celebrate Waverly High School major achievement last May in being recognized as a top 5 banner Unified Champion School. We were honored to Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist and Special Olympics leadership here to celebrate this huge accomplishment! Congratulations Waverly High School for being a premiere model in !
