I had the privilege of marking the opening of the 70th National Security Seminar here at the U.S. Army War College. Over the next four days, we welcome 160 distinguished guests from across the nation into our 25 seminar groups, where they will engage alongside our students, international fellows, and faculty.
Together, we will take a hard look at the most pressing national security challenges of our time. This seminar is one of the War College’s most important traditions bringing together a broad cross-section of American society and military leadership for candid dialogue, rigorous thought, and the exchange of new ideas. It is through conversations like these that we strengthen understanding, build trust, and reinforce the vital connection between those who serve and the nation we are sworn to defend.

Last week, I had the pleasure of joining our International Fellows from the Class of 2025 for our annual gift exchange a longstanding tradition that reflects the friendships and partnerships forged here at the U.S. Army War College. This event is more than ceremonial; it represents the trust, mutual respect, and shared purpose that unite military leaders from around the world. The relationships built during this year will endure well beyond Carlisle, strengthening cooperation with our allies and partners for years to come.

It was an honor to recognize Italian Gen. Guglielmo Miglietta, Commander of Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum, as he was inducted into the U.S. Army War College International Hall of Fame on April 18 in Bliss Auditorium. With this induction, he becomes the 85th member of an exceptional group of senior leaders who have distinguished themselves in service to their nations and to our shared security. General Miglietta’s career reflects the strength of our alliances and the enduring importance of international cooperation. His leadership stands as a testament to the values we uphold and the partnerships we continue to strengthen here at the War College.
