18561 Erbe St. The Township of Palmyra Trustees in Warren County received an award from the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs to cover the much-needed restoration of the Palmyra Methodist Episcopal Church. The church, located on the junction of Highways S23 and G24, was built in 1870 and is one of

the oldest religious structures in Warren County. Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, it is a symbol of perseverance and a reminder of the importance of preserving these sites for future generations. Time, the elements, and the expense of restoration have taken a toll on this historic structure. State Historical Society funding was used to immediately replace the severely damaged roof. The funding will also provide for an architectural assessment of the structure, and replace damaged portions of the building exterior. The Trustees of Palmyra Township continue to seek additional funding to further this effort. Donations can be made to:

Reasons to be thankful in Palmyra!

The new community shelter that features our historic church bell is looking great and is nearing completion. More vinyl and cement work is on the way, and next spring, landscaping!

The Palmyra Township Officials would like to send a big Thank You and appreciation to the Hartford Fire Department, community volunteers, and Andy Harder, for making this project possible.
