Just after sunrise and within a loop of the Licking River, a battle was fought atop a hillside in the Kentucky territory 244 years ago today. It was a devastation felt throughout the land for many years by those kin to the fallen soldiers and today the grounds within the park are set aside to preserve this moment in time. Do you have any relatives that were in the Battle of Blue Licks? Let us know!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Tomorrow, Saturday August 15th, the northern monument entrance of the park along with the roads in the vicinity of the Pioneer Museum will be closed to through traffic from approximately 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for safety reasons concerning the SAR ceremony and the Battle Re-enactment.

To access programming, the lodge and parking areas please use the southern campground entrance and follow the directional signs. Several golf carts and a bus will be roving throughout the park for those that may need transport assistance. A designated transport waiting area will also be located at the front of the lodge where transport vehicles will be covering throughout the day. See you there!

Please be advised, due to wet and muddy conditions around the fire pit after storms this week, the s’mores program scheduled for 9 p.m. tonight is canceled. We apologize for any convenience. You can still join us for a discussion on the Battle of Blue Licks at 5:30 p.m. this evening and Historical Authorship @ 6:30 p.m. in the lodge. Both free programs!
