Judge Executive Steve Hamilton Nicholas County is located on the northeastern edge of the Inner Bluegrass region of Kentucky and is an easy two-hour drive from Louisville or Cincinnati.

Formed in 1799 and named for Colonel George Nicholas, a Revolutionary War veteran from Fayette Co.

The Nicholas County Fiscal Court and county offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of the Memorial Day. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, May 26.
