Local Training for Officers

Wildland Urban Interface Firefighting for the Structural Company Officer (F0610)

As wildland and urban environments continue to intersect, fire officers must be prepared to address the unique challenges presented by Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) incidents. This course is designed to provide structural company officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively manage operations in areas where homes, businesses, and other structures are threatened by wildland fire.

Participants will gain an understanding of wildland fire behavior, the interface environment, command and control considerations, risk management, and tactical decision-making during WUI incidents. Through classroom instruction and discussion, students will learn how to integrate structural firefighting principles with wildland operations to enhance firefighter safety and improve incident outcomes.

Whether responding to a local brush fire threatening homes or supporting large-scale wildland incidents, this course will help company officers develop the leadership and operational awareness needed to protect lives, property, and natural resources in the wildland urban interface. Based on the course announcement in Wildland Urban Interface Firefighting for the Structural Company Officer F0610.pdf, the course covers topics including WUI firefighting, interface environments, wildland fire behavior, command and control issues, and tactical operations.
