Due to a major waterline break, the intersection of pierce and Calloway is expected to remain closed all week while repairs are completed.

Families dropping off students at Ocotillo Elementary or Riverside Elementary who normally use this intersection should plan ahead and use an alternate route.

🎭 THE STAGE IS SET FOR AN EXCITING NEW PARTNERSHIP! 🎭

Carlsbad Municipal Schools and Southeast New Mexico College are joining forces to bring live theatre, hands-on learning, and new creative opportunities to the CMS Performing Arts Center!

This partnership will give students and community members of all ages the opportunity to participate in every part of a live production—from acting and stage management to lighting, sound, costumes, and set construction. Participants will learn by doing while developing confidence, creativity, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Our community built the 1,600-seat PAC to be a place where people can gather, learn, create, and celebrate. Together, CMS and SENMC are ready to build upon that investment and help a new generation discover its place in Carlsbad’s rich artistic story.

Auditions, volunteer opportunities, production announcements, and performance dates are coming soon—so stay tuned!

The stage is ready, and an exciting new season is waiting in the wings! 🎬✨

Attention Ocotillo Elementary Parents and Guardians:

Due to a break in the main water line at Ocotillo Elementary, the school will dismiss early today.

If your child normally rides the bus, please ensure someone is available at home to receive them.

If no one is home to receive the children they can be picked up at Riverside elementary. The busses will head to Riverside as soon as they have completed their rounds.

If your child is normally picked up, please make your way to the school. Standard dismissal procedures will be followed.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and understanding. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

This morning, two campuses were placed on lockdown as a precaution due to a suspicious person reported near the schools.

The Carlsbad Police Department responded immediately and quickly secured the surrounding area. Both campuses are safe, and normal school operations have resumed.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our law enforcement partners for their rapid response, as well as to our building administrators and staff for acting quickly and implementing district safety protocols. Their preparedness and professionalism helped ensure the safety of our students and staff.
