Carlstadt PD was proud to participate in today’s New Jersey Special Olympics Torch Run, continuing a tradition we have supported for many years. Officers had the honor of running alongside students from Carlstadt Public School as we carried the Flame of Hope in support of Special Olympics athletes across New Jersey.

Yesterday, Chief Cox and the Carlstadt Police Department dedicated a department motorcycle dedicated in honor of retired Deputy Chief Robert J. Bartlett—a decorated World War II veteran and one of Carlstadt’s most respected police leaders. The motorcycle will be rode by Sgt. James Winand.

Deputy Chief Bartlett served our nation in the South Pacific during World War II, where he was wounded twice in combat and earned numerous military honors, including the Purple Heart. He then dedicated 27 years of service to the Carlstadt Police Department, rising through the ranks from Patrolman to Deputy Chief. Throughout his career, he received multiple commendations for bravery, lifesaving actions, and outstanding service to the community.

A marksman, mentor, and public servant, Deputy Chief Bartlett left a lasting legacy within our department and borough. We are honored to recognize his service and sacrifice by dedicating this motorcycle in his memory.

Thank you, Deputy Chief Bartlett, for your commitment to our country, our department, and the residents of Carlstadt. Your legacy continues to ride with us.

Memorial Day serves as a time for our community to reflect, remember, and express gratitude for those who gave their lives protecting the freedoms we cherish. We are honored to stand together in remembrance and recognize the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes.

Please join us in congratulating PO Bellina on successfully completing the extremely demanding 2-week Maryland State Police Motor School. This rigorous training course challenges officers both physically and mentally while requiring exceptional motorcycle control, precision, focus, and discipline.

The Carlstadt Police Department is also proud to recognize DSgt. Wong, who assisted with the course as an instructor, helping train and mentor officers throughout the program.

Chief Cox recently attended the Special Police Academy graduation and congratulated our newest graduates: SPO Lenoy, SPO Colaneri, and SPO Buchta. 🎓🚓

During their training, they developed skills in defensive tactics, traffic and pedestrian control, emergency response procedures, and community policing.

🚫🛸 NO DRONE ZONE 🛸🚫

During all FIFA World Cup events at MetLife Stadium, the airspace surrounding the stadium will be under strict FAA flight restrictions. The operation of drones/UAS is prohibited in and around the venue area.

Operating a drone inside a restricted World Cup No Drone Zone carries severe consequences. If you fly a drone without authorization, you may face:

Fines: Civil penalties up to $75,000 per violation, criminal fines up to $100,000.

Confiscation: The FBI is authorized to use specialized mitigation tools to intercept and seize your drone.

Criminal Prosecution: Violators may face federal criminal charges and immediate arrest.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Carlstadt Police Department is currently assisting with an active investigation following a fire that occurred at the warehouse structure located at 690 Washington Avenue.

The businesses affected by the fire include Arena Stone and Interstate Equipment Repair. Emergency responders worked quickly to ensure the safe evacuation of all employees from the building. At this time, no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in coordination with local authorities.

The Carlstadt Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Carlstadt Fire Department for their outstanding efforts in bringing the fire under control and protecting surrounding properties. The department also recognizes and thanks all mutual aid fire departments and emergency service agencies that responded and assisted during the incident. Their professionalism, teamwork, and rapid response were instrumental in ensuring the safety of the public and minimizing further damage.
