The Carlton Police Department, in partnership with a Carlton community member, Sara Meyer, who reached out directly to Chief Martinez, engaged in a productive conversation regarding this year's Senior Parade. Working together under a tight timeline, they brainstormed ideas and possible solutions together and developed an alternative route that would allow for a water component to be incorporated into the senior parade route through Carlton, ensuring that seniors could be celebrated as they have been in years past while preserving a valued community tradition.
Through this conversation and partnership, a solution was proposed that hopefully will balance tradition, safety, and community camaraderie. This partnership demonstrated the positive impact that can be achieved when community members and law enforcement work together toward a common goal in a respectful manner and exemplifies the strong relationship between the Carlton Police Department and the community it serves.
To help balance safety, enjoyment, and community traditions, the parade route will be adjusted to allow water balloons and water guns only within the Lower Wennerberg Park area. Water balloons will not be permitted along the remainder of the parade route through Carlton.
For the safety of participants, spectators, and property, water trucks, water tanks, hoses, and other similar water-dispensing devices will not be allowed anywhere along the parade route including the Lower Wennerberg Park.
We appreciate the community's cooperation as we work together to create a fun, safe, and memorable celebration for our graduating seniors.
