Sometimes our calls take us a little outside the ordinary. Today, our Sheriff responded to a coyote that had become tangled in a net and was unable to free himself.

With a little patience and a lot of care, he was able to safely release the coyote back into the wild. 🐺❤️

We’re happy to report that this wild guy is back on his way, and hopefully a little wiser about where he wanders!

We all knew it, the Sheriff is a big softy!

Clinton County Badges of Hope is asking our community to come together and help us make a difference in the lives of children and families right here in Clinton County.

Our mission is to bring joy, hope, and a memorable Christmas experience to local children who may be facing financial hardship. Through the generosity of our community, selected children will have the opportunity to shop for clothing, winter necessities, Christmas gifts, and other needed items.

💙 We are seeking donations from:

• Businesses located throughout Clinton County

• Local organizations, civic groups, and community partners
• Individuals and families who would like to help
• Anyone who simply wants to make a difference in the life of a local child

No donation is too small. Every dollar donated stays focused on helping children and families living in Clinton County.

This program is about more than Christmas gifts. It is about neighbors helping neighbors, supporting families during difficult times, and showing our children that their community cares about them.

🚌📚Back-to-School Safety Reminder📚🚌

Back-to-school time is here! As our kids head back to the classroom, we want to remind everyone to slow down and stay alert around school buses and bus stops.

In Illinois, it is the law to stop for a school bus that is stopped with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended.

Failing to stop carries serious consequences. For a first offense, Illinois law provides a mandatory minimum $300 fine and an automatic 3-month driver’s license suspension, with no eligibility for court supervision.

More importantly, this isn’t just about a ticket or a fine — it’s about protecting our children. A few extra seconds of patience could prevent a tragedy.

Please watch carefully for children getting on or off the bus, slow down in residential areas, and always be prepared to stop.

Slow down. Stop for the bus. Protect our kids.

Let’s all do our part to make sure our students get to and from school safely this year!

Last night a group of juveniles/minors caused multiple disturbances while at the fairgrounds. It was reported these individuals were running around randomly squirting fairgoers, including children, with an unknown liquid. I want it known this behavior will not be tolerated in the future. This may seem like a harmless prank to some, but for others it is a concerning provocation that is not appreciated. To those who choose to engage in this behavior, please understand your actions fall under the BATTERY statute, a Class “A” misdemeanor. Should you choose to continue this behavior you will be forced to leave the fairgrounds or even arrested. I ask everyone who attends the fair to be kind and courteous, and work together so that everyone can enjoy their time at the fair.

We want to remind all motorists to properly secure items in the back of your trucks & trailers. Loose items can become dangerous projectiles, putting everyone on the roadway at risk.

This afternoon, around 3:00 p.m., two young motorists were extremely fortunate after a projectile struck and passed through their windshield while traveling eastbound on Old US 50 between Trenton and Aviston. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but the outcome could have been much worse.

If you witnessed a truck or trailer losing part of its load in that area around that time, please contact our office at 618-594-4555, option 2. Any information may assist with our investigation.

Please take a few extra moments to ensure your load is properly secured before traveling. A simple precaution can prevent a tragic incident.
