When we built Tatum’s Treehouse, we envisioned more than a playground — we envisioned a place where every child could play confidently, safely, and joyfully. Thanks to the incredible support of volunteers and donors like you, that vision came to life.

Tatum’s Treehouse is filled with thoughtful, inclusive features that ensure all children, regardless of ability, can explore, imagine, and connect. Some of the key elements that make this playground truly special include:

A Fully Accessible Ramp System
Children using wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers can reach every corner of the play structure — no barriers, no limits.

Adaptive Swings & Sensory-Friendly Equipment
From bucket swings to harnessed options, children with different mobility and sensory needs can safely enjoy movement and play.

Sensory Panels & Quiet Zones
Designed for children who thrive with tactile, visual, or calming spaces, these areas support regulation and inclusive engagement.

Ground-Level Play for All
Spinners, interactive panels, and imaginative play stations ensure that meaningful play doesn’t require climbing.

Shaded Seating & Community Gathering Areas
Families can relax comfortably while staying connected to the heart of the playground.

Tatum’s Treehouse began as a dream—a place where all children, of all abilities, could play, explore, and belong. With years of dedication, hundreds of volunteers, and incredible community support, that dream became a reality when we opened the fully inclusive playground in December 2024.

Since then, Tatum’s Treehouse has become a cherished gathering place. Every day, we see children laughing, learning, building friendships, and creating unforgettable memories. This playground has truly become a space where inclusion comes to life.

As we move into another year of serving families, we need your help to ensure that Tatum’s Treehouse remains safe, welcoming, and well-maintained. is a global movement that inspires generosity and support for organizations, individuals, projects, and businesses making a difference.

Today, we invite you to consider supporting the Carmel Valley Community Youth Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to serving local children and families.

With the help of hundreds of incredible volunteers, we completed our fully inclusive playground, —a space where all children can play, explore, and belong. Since CVCYC receives no state or county funding, we rely on our local community and campaigns like to help us continue caring for this special place.

Carmel Valley Community Youth Center is incredibly honored to share that we’ve been selected to participate in the Monterey County Gives! fundraising campaign! This exciting opportunity has the potential to help us raise vital funds to maintain our beloved inclusive playground—Tatum’s Treehouse.

brings together local businesses, foundations, and individual donors to create a matching fund that directly supports participating nonprofits. A special print edition of the Monterey County Weekly in early November will feature CVCYC’s mission and our “Big Idea” proposal.

This has been CVCYC’s biggest project ever, and it’s been amazing to see our community come together to enjoy and celebrate it. We know you have many wonderful causes to support, and we are deeply grateful for your consideration.
