The Buddhist Association of the United States (BAUS) cordially invites you to join us for a most rare and significant event. Over a two-day period—on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18 —BAUS will be hosting an exhibition of the Sacred Relics of the Buddha and his most eminent noble disciples. The relics will be on display on these two days from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm in the Great Buddha Hall of Chuang Yen Monastery.
Five relics will be displayed: the sacred relics of the Buddha Shakyamuni, his chief disciples Sariputta and Moggallana, his personal attendant Ananda, and the Arahant Vakkula, the monk distinguished by his long life and excellent health.
The relics were respectfully conveyed from Master Taixu’s Relic Stupa at the Triple Wisdom Hall in Malaysia to the International Buddhism Friendship Association (IBFA) for an exhibition in Chicago on July 25 and 26. The abbot of IBFA, Ven. Jiru, has kindly agreed to bring the relics to Chuang Yen Monastery to give devotees in the greater New York area the chance to pay homage to them.
Although the Buddha and his great disciples have passed into nirvana, their bodily relics remain as part of their legacy to the world. To see the Buddha’s relics is almost like seeing the Buddha himself, and to venerate the relics is almost like venerating the Buddha in person. This will be an extremely rare opportunity, a source of boundless blessings, a precious occasion that should not be missed.
美國佛教會（BAUS）虔誠敬邀十方善士蒞臨參加一場殊勝難逢、意義深遠的佛門盛會。
謹訂於 10 月 17 日（星期六）及 10 月 18 日（星期日） 兩日，在紐約莊嚴寺舉辦 「佛陀暨眾聖弟子舍利瞻禮法會」。舍利聖寶將於兩日上午 9 時 30 分至下午 4 時，於莊嚴寺大佛殿 恭敬供奉，開放大眾瞻仰禮敬。
此次供奉的舍利共五尊，分別為：
* 本師 釋迦牟尼佛舍利
* 佛陀上首弟子 舍利弗尊者舍利
* 佛陀上首弟子 目犍連尊者舍利
* 佛陀侍者 阿難尊者舍利
* 以長壽康健著稱之阿羅漢 薄拘羅尊者（Vakkula）舍利
此等殊勝舍利, 原奉安於馬來西亞三慧講堂太虛大師舍利塔中，後由正覺寺（IBFA）恭請至美國芝加哥，於 7 月 25 日至 26 日舉行公開瞻禮。正覺寺住持 繼如法師（Ven. Jiru）慈悲應允，再度護送舍利聖寶蒞臨莊嚴寺，使大紐約地區廣大信眾得此殊勝因緣，禮拜供
養，親近佛恩。
雖然佛陀與諸大聖弟子早已示現涅槃，然其舍利聖寶仍住世間，作為法身慧命之象徵，利益無量眾生。瞻仰佛舍利，猶如親見佛陀；恭敬禮拜舍利，亦如親承佛陀教誨。
此次舍利公開瞻禮, 實為百千萬劫難遭逢之殊勝法會，功德不可思議，福德亦無量無邊。
