Taxes, Taxes, Taxes

Everything costs too much. We all feel it every day. Higher property taxes only allow you to keep less of your hard earned money. In every decision I make, I am aware of the massive responsibility I have regarding people's taxes. How we handle our budget directly affects how you handle yours.

Let's look at our neighbors to the west. Illinois' school philosophy is tax, tax, tax, and spend, spend, spend. How's that working out? As a business owner, I know the answer isn't "Just raise prices". But I don't just say I will lower taxes; I've done it.

Year Tax Rate
2020 $1.29
2021 $1.31 (Referendum)
2022 $1.18
2023 $1.16
2024 $1.14
2025 $1.10 (Projected)

There's an old saying, "Do what you've done and you'll get what you've got". That couldn't be more true. Do what you've done, VOTE BURDAN, and you'll get what you've got, LOWER TAXES.

I am currently a member of the Hanover School Board and running for re-election. I am a local business owner, I have 4 boys in Hanover schools, and my wife, Gretchen, has spent her entire career in the Hanover Community School Corporation.

I, along with Gretchen, know that strong schools make a strong community and as a funeral director and educator, respectively, we have dedicated our professions to serving our community.

As a school board member I have:
 Repeatedly LOWERED taxes.
 Hired full-time, armed SRO's dedicated to each building.
 Raised teacher and non-certified staff wages.
 Expanded campuses, built Red Cedars Elementary and opened the 1st Hanover Pre-School.
 Kept Hanover schools open during COVID.

I am extremely proud of my accomplishments as a school board member and I will continue our path of excellence.

Hanover students and parents,

A post season evaluation of coaches/ programs is being sent to students for their input.

A change was made and this evaluation is now anonymous.

It is very important to give your honest feedback regarding our programs, both positive and negative.

With your help, we will make Hanover Wildcats the team everyone wants to play on!

Thank you,

Aaron

Dear Hanover Families,
In the interest of transparency, the School Board and I believe it is important to update you on the status of the PTO theft at Jane Ball and Red Cedars. As the investigation continues between the CLPD and the District, the level of theft has far exceeded what we formerly shared with our families. The amount stolen between the two buildings is in excess of 60K.
Please rest assured that this matter is of the highest priority to the Board and myself. We will do everything in our power to successfully resolve this issue.
We are very grateful for the current Jane Ball PTO Board who are committed to providing opportunities for our Jane Ball students. Additionally, we are grateful for the support from former Red Cedars PTO members, including Mrs. Speichert and Mrs. Vujko who are graciously helping during this transition, as a new PTO board will need to be formed. If any Red Cedars parents are interested in serving on the newly formed PTO board, please reach out to the building principal, Mrs. Burdan.
Thank you to all of our families for your support and understanding during this time.

Dear Hanover Families,

It is important to share the following information with you. Concerns were raised over the summer regarding finances for Jane Ball and Red Cedars PTO Organizations. Minimally, it has been determined that over $37,500 has been stolen. It is believed that the amount is greater than that. PTOs are separate entities that are not run by the schools. However, this is very disturbing and a matter that the Hanover Community School Corporation Board of Trustees and the Superintendent, Dr. MacAulay, take very seriously. Therefore, the matter is being investigated by the CLPD.

As a result of these concerns, more stringent procedural safeguards have been put in place for all organizations within the District to ensure that nothing of this nature occurs again. Theft is a crime, but stealing from our students is unconscionable.

The work done to benefit students is no small undertaking and is greatly appreciated. It is also of critical importance that our families and community partners have a sense of security and trust in HCSC organizations. Many of the activities that benefit our students are a direct result of the generosity of our families. Therefore, the PTO organizations in both of these buildings will be dissolved and new organizations formed. It is important to note that members of the existing 2023-2024 PTO Board at Jane Ball will remain intact.

Please rest assured that our students will not miss out on any events or opportunities during this restructuring. Thank you for your continued partnership and faith in our district.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mary MacAulay

I want to thank everyone who supported Kuzma & Sterkowitz. You have put your trust in me, and I will do my best to represent our community.
The road to School Board was an eye opening experience.
It gave me the opportunity to meet so many different people in our district and hear their concerns and praises for Hanover.
It also taught me we have a community that is passionate about making our school district the best it can be.
Moving forward, I will work with our school board members to make policies and expand programs that benefit students, parents, and our district.

We are HC!
