One last meeting for the Chief!

A few weeks ago, Cadet Chief Przymylski attended his last meeting with the PCSO Cadets!! Chief Przymylski joined the Cadet Program in the Fall of 2022. During his Phase 1 Class, he took home the Top Cop Award. Through his time with our Phase 2 Cadets, he quickly worked his way up the ranks to Chief. He has brought home many awards for the PCSO Cadets Program at several NERLEEA events and challenges, including winning the Top Cadet Challenge two years in a row at the NERLEEA Lieutenant Dustin Demonte and Sergeant Alex Hamzy Memorial Cadet Tactical Challenge. Also during his time as Cadet Chief, he completed an Internship with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office during his Senior year of High School.

Chief Przymylski is passing on the torch to our next Cadet Chief and will be moving on to attend West Virginia University to study Forensic Analytics.

We know that Chief Przymylski has an extremely successful future ahead of him! We could not be more proud of the amazing individual he has become and we cannot wait to see what the future has in store for him! We wish you nothing but the best Chief! Congratulations and Good Luck! And remember that you will always be part of this Team and Family.

On Monday, the Putnam County Hostage Negotiation Team taught our Cadets the basics of Crisis Negotiations. Our Cadets were able to complete a scenario involving hostage. A negotiation team was selected where they were able to utilize the equipment within our negotiation van while a tactical team responded directly to the scene. Our Cadets learned the importance of communication between these two teams! Thank you to our Hostage Negotiation Team for taking the time to instruct our Cadets!!

On Monday, our Cadets participated in a lesson on Active Attackers on how to respond to an incident involving an Active Attacker. Cadets then participated in scenarios based on the topic, working on their tactical skills!

Today, our Cadets assisted Carmel (NY) Police with their Youth Police Academy. Carmel hosts this 6-day summer program for local students entering grades 6th through 8th with the goal of the program being for children to enjoy themselves while gaining an understanding of the demands of police training and service. The Youth Academy consists of physical training, lectures, presentations, hands-on activities, and more.

We are grateful that every year Carmel PD invites us to attend so that we can teach them about our program for recruitment purposes. Thank you Carmel PD for having us!

Our Phase 2 Cadets received a Drone Presentation and Demo from Sergeant Sadowski!

Last Saturday, 12 of our Cadets graduated from NERLEEA’s Cadet Police Academy. Each Cadet spent the week in one of the academy’s challenging programs. They faced early mornings, marching and drills, physical training, hands-on scenarios, and so much more. Their evenings were filled with friendship building, networking, and fun activities. The week always starts off extremely difficult for our Cadets, pushing them past their limits, but by the end of the week, they don’t want to go home!

‼️A HUGE shout out to our Cadets Advisors who were there to support our Cadets not only during this week, but who support them day in and day out. We have received so much positive feedback from our Cadet parents following their Cadet’s week at Camp and we already have several Cadets expressing how excited they are to attend camp next year! Thank you Sheriff Hess for allowing our Cadet and Cadet Advisors to attend camp once again this year. It was a huge success!!
