Carmel by the Sea

Carmel by the Sea One of the most awarded destinations in the U.S. You can fine-dine at a number of four-star restaurants or eat al fresco at the beach.

Carmel by the Sea is a place to get away from it all without sacrificing the big-city offerings of art, theater, music, dining, shopping, spas, and more. You can collect art or just covet art and artifacts at almost 100 galleries and antique shops, and you can buy anything from trinkets to Tiffanys. Even those who travel the world are unlikely to encounter another place that has so much to offer in one location.

“A little eccentric, extremely pretty.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. ELLE Magazine (US) named Carmel-by-the-Sea one of the best beach towns for one last late-summer getaway, and there’s still plenty of summer left to spend here.

100 years of creativity, with plenty more to come. 🎭

This year, Sunset Cultural Center celebrates the centennial of its historic 1926 building and a century as part of the Carmel-by-the-Sea community.

The celebration continues into fall with a season worth planning a trip around, from Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Chris Botti to Celtic Thunder and Lyle Lovett. See what’s taking the stage and turn a show into a stay in Carmel-by-the-Sea at carmelcalifornia.com/organizations-sunset_center_379.htm.

For more than a century, stories have come to life beneath the Monterey pines.

Built in 1910, Carmel's historic Forest Theater is one of the country's oldest outdoor theaters, where towering trees and grand stone fireplaces create a stage unlike any other. This season, Pacific Repertory Theatre brings The Little Mermaid to this beloved cultural landmark from August 6 through September 20, then return in September as the Monterey Symphony performs A Love Letter to New York in this unforgettable outdoor setting.
