📣 Join us Saturday, October 17, for the next Community Safety Series: “Shaken, Soaked & Prepared: Earthquakes, Tsunamis & El Niño on the Central Coast”

⭐️ We’re thrilled to welcome renowned UC Santa Cruz earth scientist and author Dr. Gary Griggs, who will discuss earthquakes and El Niño on the Central Coast.

🚔 Carmel Police Chief Todd Trayer will also join us to share practical guidance on tsunami preparedness.

Applications are now being accepted for two vacancies:
🔵1 ADA Access Member
🔵1 Core Member – applicant must be a General Contractor

Eligibility: Applicants must live in the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea or the City’s Sphere of Influence.

📅 Application deadline: Friday, August 21, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

Applications are available at ci.carmel.ca.us/boards-commissions and may be submitted to the City Clerk at [email protected] or delivered to City Hall.

🚌 The City will offer a FREE shuttle service from Larson Field on Rio Road to Carmel Plaza on a loop!

Two shuttles will run every 10-15 minutes

The shuttles will drive directly to and from Larson Field and Carmel Plaza

One shuttle will have a wheelchair lift

Shuttles will operate for Car Week:

🔔 Wildfire Risk Reduction Work: Pescadero Canyon

The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea has authorized crews to perform critical wildfire risk reduction work.

The fuel mitigation work will include:
🟡Vegetation thinning
🟡Ladder fuel reduction
🟡Removal of dead and downed material
🟡Fuel break and defensible space maintenance

📍Pescadero Canyon

Work Schedule:
🟢Start Date: July 27, 2026
🔴Expected Completion: August 7, 2026

🔔 This workshop is designed to help prospective candidates understand the nomination process, important filing deadlines, required candidate forms, and Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) requirements.

🔔 The candidate nomination period begins Monday, July 13, 2026, so this is a great opportunity to learn what to expect before filing begins.

✅ Can’t attend in person? An online version of the presentation will be available on the City’s Elections webpage by Friday afternoon.
