The City of Carmi is seeking seasonal employees for the position of lifeguard at the Carmi Municipal Pool. Applicants must be a minimum of 15 years of age.
Qualifications:
- Must be certified in CPR, first aid and Lifeguarding or willing to become certified. (For those not certified, a local class will be offered and more information will be provided to individuals hired pending certification.)
- Strong swimming skills and ability to perform water rescues.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations, including responding quickly and effectively in emergencies.
- Excellent communication skills.
Job duties include providing a safe swimming environment and clean facilities for the public. Lifeguards are scheduled weekdays and after hours/weekends pool parties as assigned.
Applicants shall fill out an application, available at cityofcarmi.org/application, and return to the City of Carmi, 225 E Main Street, Carmi, IL 62821. Applications should be received no later than 3pm on April 1, 2026. A copy of CRP, first aid and lifeguard certification should be included with the application if it has already been obtained.
