The White County Historical Society operates and maintains four museums, Ratcliff Inn, L. Haas Museum, Robinson-Stewart House, and Matsel Cabin, as well as, the Mary Smith Fay Genealogy Library. Our funding comes through membership dues, donations, grants, and fundraisers. We promote our county's history through educational and entertaining events with the public including 2nd grade tea parties, P

ioneer Days for 5th graders, living history events, and museum tours. Mission Statement: To preserve and promote the historical interest of White County through our stewardship of its artifacts and the historic sites and education programs and exhibits that we provide for its people. Vision Statement: To make the history of White County come alive for the people of White County

Love history? Join Bob Swenson at Groff Library as he shares: how rivers in our area have been used for centuries, their continued use and future use. Among Bob's achievements are assisting SIU archaeology teams documentation of historic sites, including an 1800s Ohio River flatboat discovered at America, Illinois.

Starting now through the end of November, we will be selling raffle tickets for 4 prize baskets with items that represent parts of American history! Each basket is valued at $200-$300! Proceeds go towards renovating our amazing L. Haas Store Museum!

🫖Tea Varieties from the Boston Tea Party
☕️Colonial Coffee flavors of the early Republic
🥃Whiskey made from George Washington’s own recipe
🍷George Washington’s favorite wine

We will be set up at various events throughout the year to sell tickets, and anyone can stop by the Geneology Library to purchase them as well. You can also reach out to board members and we can let you know how to get tickets!

**Must be 21 or older (providing ID with proof of age) to win adult baskets.

****Those who purchase tickets have the option to select entry for Wine & Whiskey Baskets only, Coffee & Tea only, OR all baskets.
