The homeowner stepped outside to enjoy the evening when they heard a sound that instantly made them freeze…

RATTLE… RATTLE… RATTLE…

Just a few feet away, this rattlesnake was coiled up and letting everyone know it didn’t want to be disturbed.

Not all attic noises are caused by rodents… This homeowner had a much bigger visitor. 🦝

The homeowner called because they kept hearing strange noises coming from above the ceiling.

At first, they thought it might be a squirrel.

Then we opened the attic and discovered a surprise waiting for us…

A mother raccoon had turned the attic into a nursery for her babies. 🦝❤️

Like many wildlife moms this time of year, she was simply looking for a safe, warm place to raise her family. Unfortunately, attics often seem like the perfect spot from a raccoon’s point of view.

As soon as we found them, mom kept a close eye on every move we made while making sure her babies stayed safe.

It’s moments like these that remind us how incredible wildlife can be. No matter the species, a mother’s instinct to protect her young is powerful.

Ever heard a baby raccoon chatter?

These adorable sounds are how baby raccoons communicate with their mother and siblings. Young raccoons can make a surprising variety of vocalizations when they’re hungry, cold, frightened, or simply looking for reassurance from mom.

This little one was part of a family that had been nesting in an attic. Unfortunately, years of dry rot and raccoon activity caused part of the ceiling to give way, and the mother raccoon fell through into a bedroom below. She quickly found her way back outside, but her babies were left behind.

After carefully removing the babies, we placed them in a secure reunion box outside near the home. Before long, mom returned and safely carried each baby to a new nesting location.

Stories like this are a great reminder that wildlife moms are incredibly dedicated to caring for their young. Whenever possible, our goal is to reunite wildlife families and give them the best chance of success in the wild.

Rattlesnake Found Hiding in Bedroom Drawer on Second Floor!

A Rancho Cordova homeowner thought she heard a rattlesnake hiding in her bedroom drawer—and unbelievably, she was right!

When we arrived, we carefully opened the drawer and discovered a 2-foot rattlesnake tucked away inside a second-story bedroom. The biggest mystery? How did it get there, and how long had it been hiding inside the home?

Watch as we safely remove this unexpected guest and help restore peace of mind for the homeowner.

Baby fox rescue!

This young fox was found alone after its mother was struck by a vehicle. After being safely rescued, the fox pup was transported to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator where it can receive professional care and have the best chance for a successful return to the wild.

Spring and summer are busy seasons for wildlife, and young animals are often impacted when their parents are injured or displaced. If you encounter orphaned or injured wildlife, it’s important to contact a licensed wildlife professional for guidance.
