STEAM Camp 2026: Day 1
📕 Once Upon a Time, in the land of Carnegie, 150 students spent the first day of STEAM Camp learning about “Jack and the Beanstalk.” While the younger students heard the classic tale for the first time, older students were excited to hear the twisted tale “Trust Me, Jack’s Beanstalk Stinks!” Students responded to the stories by writing a story of what they would do with magic beans in a castle book!
🫘 Students learned the “magic” of science through plant germination by discussing what a plant needs in order to grow and then created their own greenhouses to grow Lima beans seeds!
📏 Beanstalks are perfect to learn about measurements! Students practiced their measuring skills of different beanstalk sizes and tracked their data in measurement books!
🎨 Students made beanstalks in art class using mixed media like pencils, cotton ball clouds, green paper squares, and paint!
🥨 Culinary class discussed the characteristics of fairy tales , compared and contrasted different endings to the story, and decorated pretzel sticks with green frosting/sprinkles to make edible beanstalks!
Special thanks to the CHS and CMS helpers who are volunteering in each class this week!
