Carnesville Fire Department Hosts Fire Safety + Service Night with Boy Scout Troop 42

Carnesville, GA – July 14 2025 – The Carnesville Fire Department was proud to host a special evening of fire service education and fire safety for members of Boy Scout Troop 42. The event provided an engaging “show-and-tell” experience that highlighted both the professional side of firefighting and essential safety skills.

Event Highlights

Equipment walkthrough: Scouts explored fire engines and emergency gear, learning the names and functions of hoses, nozzles, axes, protective gear, and more.
Live demonstrations: Firefighters demonstrated vehicle extrication techniques, lamping and ladder operations, and a basic fire attack—everyone got close enough to hear the sirens and mains!
Fire safety training: Kids participated in mock drills covering home fire prevention, escape planning, smoke alarm use, and how to “stop, drop, and roll.”
Q&A session: Scouts had the opportunity to ask questions and chat face-to-face with volunteer firefighters about what it takes to serve the community.
Quote from the Fire Chief

“We’re honored to welcome Troop 42 and share the fundamentals of firefighting and fire safety,” said Fire Chief Ryan Vaughn . “Teaching kids these life-saving skills encourages community awareness and could spark an interest in public service.”
